There is often confusion among guests between wigs and hair systems, so, to make it easy on you we’re going to tell you the difference right here: wigs are designed for women while hair systems are geared for men. To put it in this perspective, like cars, hair systems come in “Stock” or “Custom” versions.

Stock Systems are pre-made and kind of like buying a car off the lot. Due to configuration and options, Stock Systems can usually be delivered within one week of ordering. The Stock Systems base can be cut to fit the clients head and then the hair cut to suit the client’s needs.

Custom Systems, like their name suggests, are fine tuned from the factory specifically for the options you want. The base is professionally fitted to your scalp; you choose color, density, length, wave, base type and even the hairline itself. All Systems are cut to the client’s needs and specifications. Due to its custom-built nature, Custom Systems generally take 8 to 10 weeks for delivery.

Either system gives you have a choice of Synthetic or Human Hair as well as color. Synthetic Systems hold the color much longer then Human Hair but cannot be colored beyond how they are delivered. Most Systems are not created to last more than 18 months.

The bases are made of mesh and French Lace, or a poly-urethane (artificial) skin piece with each hair individually hand sewn into the base. Some bases may have both mesh and French lace with a poly-urethane on the outer edges to protect the lace.

Hair Systems can be taped with double back tape or they can be bonded using medical grade glue. Depending on the client the bonded systems can last up to four (4) weeks.

Just like it is with the wigs we sell, at Revelations Hair Studio, we want you to know and understand as much about your new hair system as you can; how it is going to be blended into your own hair and how to style it once you get it home (this is especially important if you’re using double back tape).
